Fuel Altereds and Girl Pro Stocks at Dover Poster

$7.95 $2.00

Here’s a cool “combo” poster reproduced from a 50-year-old original that we rescued. It’s 1972 at Dover, advertising The West Coast Fuel Altered Stars of Wild Willy Borsch in the “Winged Express” match racing Leon Fitzgerald in “Pure Heaven,” plus the Miss Universe Super Pro Stock Circuit that was set up by Tom “Smoker” Smith.
ALL GIRL RACERS: Carol “Bunny” Burkett, Fan Mellott, Carol Wood, Jean Brown, Carol Henson, Ann Clem, Carolyn Hunt, Nita Blaylock, and Lynn Poole… Calling it “a traveling circus,” Bunny remembered the tour with affection. It was a hit with the fans who liked the quality of the racing almost as much as the “hot pants” contests in which the Miss Universe drivers participated. “We would strut our stuff,” Bunny said, and the crowds would “yell and clap and carry on….” It sounds exploitative, and it probably was, but drag racing is an expensive sport, and playing by Smith’s rules was one way that Bunny and the other women could stay in the game at the time. “Hot Pants & Heads Up”… A crowd favorite…
Measures: 11″ x 17”
