Fairbanks Racing Transmissions was founded by Frank Lupo. The first location was in Stamford, Connecticut. At one time, the business was expanded to three locations. The first one was on Jerome Avenue in The Bronx, then 42nd Street in New York City, then Stamford. The Fairbanks name came from the phone exchange name in The Bronx, “Fairbanks-0000.” They ran their test cars in the early ’60s at Dover Drag Strip. Obsession 1 was a ’63 max-wedge Plymouth (Stage III). They also ran Obsession 2 which was a ’40 Chevy Coupe. Both cars were owned and driven by Hank Thayler. They then ran an A/MP MOPAR car called “Cantankerous.”  We were fortunate to find an original decal and offer it today as a memorial to those days gone-by. Another Drag Strips Gone exclusive…
